What is on this site, and who owns it
The photographs, the texts, the drawings, the collages of the notebook and the design of the site are the work of Motmot Treks and its founders, unless a caption says otherwise. All of it is protected: reproducing any part of it, on any medium, needs our written agreement. Quoting a short passage with a link back to the page is welcome and needs no permission at all.
Almost every photograph here was taken by us, in the field, in Guatemala. Where a photograph is not ours, it is credited at the foot of the page it appears on, with its author and its licence. Nothing here comes from a stock library.
Technical credits
The site runs on WordPress, published under the GPL, with the Polylang extension for its three languages, and on a theme written for this site alone. The two typefaces, Shantell Sans and Source Serif 4, are used under the SIL Open Font License. The icons were drawn for this site.
Prices, estimates and availability
The prices shown are in US dollars and are estimates. They do not commit either of us: a trip becomes firm only when we confirm it to you in writing, with its dates, its group and its final price. An opening discount of 10 % applies to the prices displayed on this site until 31 December 2026.
What we cannot promise
We describe places, seasons and birds as precisely as we can, and we correct whatever we find to be wrong. Conditions in the field change all the same: a road closes, a season shifts, a species does not turn up. Nothing on this site is a guarantee that a given bird will be seen on a given morning. Opening times, access rules and entry prices for places we do not run are given as guidance and may change without notice.

Our links to Instagram, to Facebook and to our Google listing lead to sites that we neither run nor check. What they contain is not our responsibility.
Your personal data
The Privacy Policy sets out what we collect, where it goes, how long we keep it and how to have it erased. This site places a single cookie on your device, which records the language you chose to read in.
Applicable law
This site is published from Guatemala and is subject to Guatemalan law. That takes nothing away from the protection your own country’s consumer law gives you, wherever you live.
