Motmot Treks is two people, not a company: one reads Guatemala through its birds, the other through its roads.
Our story
Andrid Ramírez is a Guatemalan biologist who has spent her career following birds through the country's forests and wetlands. Baptiste de Salins arrived as a traveller and never quite left, learning Guatemala one road at a time. Motmot Treks is what happens when those two ways of knowing a place meet: birdwatching built on real expertise, private trips built on real ground knowledge.

Baptiste de Salins first came to Guatemala as a traveller and stayed. Years spent on roads that rarely make it onto a map now shape every private trip he builds, knowing when to leave earlier than planned, and which detour is worth the extra hour.
Guatemala hides surprises around every corner, and I love going looking for them.
Our name
Lesson's motmot is a species characteristic of Central America. Even in urban forests, it's a bird this region recognises as its own.
It's hard to miss: a vivid blue crown, and a long tail that ends in two racket-shaped feathers found in few other birds.
Like the motmot, we travel Guatemala's own routes: the ones that lead to its most emblematic places.
