How do I get to Livingston?
Livingston is entirely completely roadless and can only be accessed by water. We arrange private, comfortable boat transfers for our guests, typically cruising down the spectacular Río Dulce gorge from the town of Frontera, or taking a shorter boat ride across the bay from Puerto Barrios.
Are there nice beaches in Livingston?
The town itself does not have pristine swimming beaches, as it sits at a river mouth. However, a short private boat ride along the coast takes you to Playa Blanca, a beautiful, privately managed white-sand beach lined with palm trees, perfect for a relaxing day.
What is the local culture like?
Livingston is the heart of Guatemala's Garifuna community. The Garifuna are descendants of Afro-Caribbean and indigenous Arawak people. They have their own language, incredible music (famous for the Punta rhythm), and a unique cuisine heavily featuring coconut, plantains, and fresh seafood.
